EL SALVADOR WILL HOST OF THE FIRST REGIONAL BOTANICAL CONVENTION

The first Regional Botanical Convention in El Salvador will be arranged it by Cultural Secretarial through the Natural History Museum.

This convention is organized by La Laguna Botanical Garden and The University of El Salvador through The Biology School, The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) and Diario El Mundo in order to promote botanical studies in El Salvador.

According to Marlon Escamilla, Natural and Patrimony National Director, one of the goals is to promote the research development in the country. Moreover, Eunice Echeverría, MUHNES Director, said: This activity will help reactivate Mesoamerican and Caribbean Herbal Network.

In this event, will participate, experts and students of Mesoamerican and Caribbean vegetation. There will have 47 conferences divided into four sections: floristic (Searching of new species in the region), ethnobotany (Ornamental, medical, veterinarian and food plants uses), Paleobotany (Study of fossil plants) and Vegetation and clime change (Vegetation role to prevent disasters, hungers and pests).

Specialists from Italy, Germany and Mexico will discuss a variety of topics during the convention. The opening will be in the La Laguna Botanical Garden in Antiguo Cuscatlán at 9:00 am and the close event will be on October 30th in the National History Building at 5:00 pm.
